Welcome to the 10th Annual Ride to Win 2009.

This year we decided to visit some motorcycle friendly venues across Sydney as our usual run to the south coast and surrounding area unfortunately was hindered by the NSW Police advising the hoteliers that our presence was no longer welcome now or in the future.

As the Grey Clouds rolled over our skies it did not deter the faithful who came out along with their families to embark on our day of riding. Gathering at the Local Bowling Club we where greeted by bowling club staff and the local rugby club who kindly donated their services by supplying a sausage sizzle breakfast. Once our dedicated crowd assembled we proceeded to make our way across town to our first stop in the Inner City. We delighted onlookers as we journeyed our way across the south of Sydney taking the procession of bikes past some of the Elite Coffee Clubs who where enjoying their morning fix in the various cafes across Sydney. Our first stop had curious locals come out to see what the fuss was all about. The locals mingled with the crowd taking photographs with those happy to be snapped. Even George the 2yr old cockatoo got in on the action entertaining the kids who came on the ride with their parents. Thanks to the bar staff for their hospitality and great service.

The next stretch of the ride took us in the direction of Western Sydney over the Anzac & Gladesville Bridges and round past the Olympic Stadium to our stop for lunch. A flurry of excitement hit the 5 locals who from what we understand don’t see much activity these days. They where mighty impressed with the Camaraderie of the various clubs who where trading stories over a quiet beer. The bistro did a mighty fine job feeding the ravenous as they where caught unawares by the number of people who rolled up for lunch. As the day grew on and the constant threat of the dark grey sky loomed overhead we mounted our bikes and headed back to the bowling club taking the most direct route back through the M5 Tunnel. The thunderous roar of the bikes echoing through the tunnel was certainly impressive as the pack held formation. I hope someone got a picture of that!

Back at the bowling club the Leanne Paris Band took us into the evening. (Check this group out, they are a fantastic).  The presentation for the Lucky draw prize soon followed with first prize going to one lucky local who managed to purchase the last ticket of the day to win the $1000.00.

We are happy to report a hassle free day as the boys in blue made only a few brief appearances throughout the day. George our friendly OZ Bike photographer managed to scare away the star struck crew receiving a thunderous applause from the crowd. On ya George!

All in all a great day was had by all.
